Distribution Center Manager

Wilson Employment Networks is partnering with ECCO USA to find a talented Distribution Center Manager to join their team.

The Distribution Center Manager plans, coordinates and organizes the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products. Provides leadership to ensure high performance levels, achievement of shipping targets, and a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Major responsibilities of the Distribution Center Manager:

  • Develop tactical plans for the distribution operations to support the strategic plans and goals for the USA sales and retail operations.

  • Ensures goods are dispatched on time, to the appropriate destinations, and in the expected quantities.

  • Work with the distribution staff to develop and revise operational processes and procedures that provide efficient and effective methods of receiving and storing, fulfilling orders and shipping material and merchandise.

  • Work closely with ECCO staff such as Import/Export, Commercial, Customer Service, etc. and customers to provide an integrated effort and seamless process for product storage, receipt and delivery.

  • Ensure a safe, efficient and clean distribution center work space and environment.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of the distribution operations and achievement of targets and goals.Take appropriate action as the reports indicate the need.

  • Monitor staff performance metrics ensuring an effective and efficient work force.

  • Manage temporary staffing process and candidates in compliance with ECCO policies and procedures.

  • Oversee facilities maintenance and improvement projects. Ensure preventive maintenance plans are in place and followed. Manage vendor relationships related to landscaping, facilities maintenance, security, etc.

  • Provide input for the annual budgeting process.Manage the approved budget and work with staff, Operations Management and Finance to stay within expense targets and financial guidelines.

  • Manage vendors in support of DC operations, including materials, service and transportation.

  • Owner of the worn and unworn returns process, ensuring all returns are processed timely and efficiently.

  • Manage customer chargebacks relating to distribution verifying validity of claim.

  • Effectively manage and develop subordinate staff, providing for coaching and professional development opportunities as appropriate.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and make a valuable contribution towards maintaining ECCO's culture of passion, innovation and sustainability.

Qualifications of the Distribution Center Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience in a distribution center, 2-3 years of experience in a distribution center managerial role.

  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a changing environment, effectively managing multiple and/or shifting priorities.

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and organizational skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of storage, order picking/packing and shipping techniques.

  • Ability to delegate duties with strong follow-up skills and focus on accountability.

  • Solid problem-solving skills.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.

  • Ability to work long hours, nights and/or weekends as required.

  • Ability to travel, domestic and/or international.

This position is being offered on a supplemental to direct basis and the rate of pay is commensurate with experience.
